Again, the controversy or confusion continues...

Authoritative sources on the internet can be found in a basic search that state Prostatitis is not caused by bacteria in all but a few cases.

Small comfort for the Prostatitis sufferer !

In taking the offensive and managing your own condition, you should consider the following:

   *  If you have ever had acute-like prostatitis symptoms of chills, fever, urinary infection, then it most probably was bacteria based.
   *  The vast range of concern, attention to detail and competence in the subject by many physicians may simply mean that the bacteria was never isolated.
   *  Tests for bacteria may be insufficient: may have used the wrong test, may have used the wrong method, the result may have been mis-read...

A presumption by a Doctor that a patient's condition is not caused by bacteria just because nothing has been isolated is not a good reason to rule out bacteria, nor prescribe wide-spectrum antibiotics as a safety guess.

Those safety guesses all add up over time, making eradication of properly isolated bacteria much harder to elminate because of antibiotic resistance.
