Asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis is diagnosed, usually during evaluation for other conditions, when the patient does not have any common symptoms of prostatitis, such as difficulty with urination, fever, and lower back and pelvic pain, but has infection-fighting cells present. Usually no treatment is required, however since signs of asymptomatic prostatic inflammation may sometimes be associated with prostate cancer, a psa test may be carried out.
