Acute Bacterial Prostatitis

Symptoms of ABP are usually sudden. They can include the following:

    * Chills
    * Fever
    * Frequent urination
    * Incomplete emptying of the bladder
    * Joint pain
    * Lower back pain
    * Muscle pain
    * Pain in the penis, testicles, and the area between the scrotum and the rectum (perineum)
    * Painful ejaculation
    * Painful urination
    * Sensation of having to urinate immediately, often accompanied by bladder pain or spasm (urgency)
    * Tender, swollen prostate

Unless successfully treated, Acute Prostatitis will usually lead to Chronic Prostatitis.

 

The symptoms of Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis (CBP) are generally less severe than those of ABP and include the following:

    * Blood in semen
    * Discomfort in the genital area and perineum
    * Painful urination
    * Fever
    * Lower-back pain
    * Pain in lower abdomen
    * Painful ejaculation
    * Recurring urinary tract infection
